Let’s keep this party going with some help from 81yr old #funk queens Patti LaBelle and Nona Hendrix with an early morning television version of their song “Lady Marmalade” (https://youtu.be/CLLGCoL0LYY?si=8P8ahVLMv8JUOzH0) In addition to her cookbook & readymade foods empire, Patti LaBelle has also appeared in a Lifetime holiday film and popped up on “The Wonder Years”. Nona has continued to perform live to rave reviews.

#NonaHendryx is a unique presence in the pop landscape; a composer and vocalist whose body of work carries significant influence, including chart presence for her tenure in #Labelle and collaborations with folks like Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis, Bill #Laswell, and others, but has otherwise carved an utterly inscrutable path with unpredictable digressions. This is a live performance from the late 70s that showcases her more conventional style. but its still bangin' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y34MPh8a05s

"Keep It Confidential" by #NonaHendryx entered the #Top100 at 95. It peaked at 91 on 11 Jun 1983. This wasn't a big hit, but she had more success in 1975 as part of #LaBelle with "Lady Marmalade". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bygQEWTwXas #1980s #musichistory #musicvideo

#FunkyFriday Can we get some love for #NonaHendryx? She’s been traveling all over the musical map for decades, mostly under the radar. 1989’s #SkinDiver was released on Peter Baumann’s small but influential #PrivateMusic label, it’s proggy, funky, atmospheric, and passionate as always. Respect! 🎶👍😁 #Music #Funk #Soul #RhythmAndBlues #NewAge #ProgRock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKNLV8o76k0

#vinyloftheday is a classic early 80s work from the criminally overlooked #NonaHendryx (LaBelle, Material, Keith Richards, Prince, Talking Heads)
