@trini it's very hard to gauge relative distances in this game sometimes, what with space already being so vast, and then I think there are some forced changes in scale happening depending on proximity to certain objects, which further muddies those waters; that's most apparent when flying between upper atmosphere and open space, but a fun one right now is when I vent the viral organisms salvaged from those creepy biowrecks, and they briefly appear to be the size of a Winnebago before reverting back to the far more sensible basketball size they should be.
As far as I know, there are no enhancements to the gravity cannon. My strategy is to fly uncomfortably close and park as centrally as possible to where I'll be going EVA. In the video, I happen to nail that, but I often park in the wrong spot or at a weird angle and have a harder time getting things to line up with the admittedly very forgiving tractor beam radius. I've also learned to aim slightly below where I would normally aim when firing toward the beam, which has improved my accuracy somewhat.

In this video, I take Hypatia to a shipwreck in the system, strip the wreck for salvage, and take the parts to the local processing facility. The reactor was no longer intact, so there was no risk of explosion this time.

In this video, I'll take the safety barrier off the outer warp chamber to take a closer look at the core, which you should never ever do. I made mine out of two table lamps, a bunch of "the Black Hole in the Wall" signs, a light floor, and some light tables. Immediately report to sickbay after this tour.

Welcome to the Bar at the Space Station at the End of the Universe! At our station, we have a number of venues to help you divest yourself of any heavy money that may be weighing you down before you move on from Euclid to the Hilbert Dimension, most notable of which is our entirely legitimate bar that was always certified for the public and definitely not only just this past week.
I also accidentally pull my gravity cannon on the bartender right at the very end. Oops!
Next stop: Milliways!

Last corvette for a while, probably. This one's a bit of crossover content too, with a different kind of Traveller!
In the Traveller TTRPG, one of the most well-known designs(and the one the majority of groups operate out of at some point) is the classic Type A(or Beowulf class?) Free Trader. When I first heard of corvettes on their release, my first thought was we were basically making ships on the same scale as that and the 100T Scout ship. Now that I'd cut my teeth a bit on those other designs, I thought I'd finally take a whack at building one in No Man's Sky!
Also to note: this was all done with stock building. No Blender, mods, or glitches.

(I didn't need to switch to the phase beam to kill their shield first as I would usually do.)
