You know, sometimes too much visibility is as bad as too little.
I deployed NetAlertX on my network, now I'm seeing a few devices disconnecting the reconnecting to the network at random times. The devices and the times are random, but there are a few patterns I can see by the notifications.
The problem is: this was never a problem before, nothing is really failing, but now it is a problem that is bothering me, and I will probably spend hours trying to find out that it's most likely a whole nothingburger.
Now I'm not sure if it was something worth installing.

Well, #NetAlertX is now doing a great job of pushing client status to #homeAssistant for my network devices via #mqtt.
It was a pretty straightforward setup once I’d figured out that you *must* put something in the username and password fields for the mqtt publisher, even if your broker allows anonymous access, otherwise the script fails silently.
First run, populating all the devices into HA, was slow, but it’s working nicely now.
If HA sees my iPhone on the home WiFi it infers I am “home”.

Today's other project, got #NetAlertX deploying into my k8s environment. Got it scanning the directly connected subnet so far. Hoping to ditch Fing.
Truth be told, I used Gemini to cheat to generate the yaml as no helm chart. It was REALLY close and just had to make a few tweaks. Saved me some typing.
