I didn't read this piece until now but found it quite nice. Playing with the idea of an emerging culture of "Neo-Neue Musik" as a kind of dialectical antithesis to the easy-listening, Spotify-compatible "neo-classical" music.
"Neue Musik", of course, is not a genre but really a scene, defined by particular forms of reflection and performance. It makes sense for this scene to move away from its former alliance with "classical" and it's rituals, towards the non-academic scenes of underground electronic music, and non-commercial, anti-fascist, rave-adjascent festivals. Which is already happening, according to Genoël von Lilienstern.
