Search on #NeoDB ( #Fediverse alternative to #Letterboxd #Goodreads etc) could use some work, but enclosing a media title in quote marks can help.

    E.g.

    1. Movie & TV search for sour minnows (without quotes): have to scroll through all internal NeoDB results, then through all external results, to find the TMDB result for Sour Minnows as the very last result 😓

    2. Movie & TV search for "sour minnows" (with quotes): only 1 result, TMDB for Sour Minnows 👍

Not so much recruit non-Fed people to #Fediverse, but🤞encourage people using one Fed service to also use another. E.g. those who use #Mastodon & #Letterboxd to use #NeoDB instead of LB.

    - Make #LastFourWatched posts w/ LetterboxdFriday & #NeoDBFriday tags
    - Occasional advice posts tagged #NeoDBtips
    - Answering / boosting questions re NeoDB

With news of LB's sale soon (probably to Netflix or Sony), several folks I know have made the jump from LB to NeoDB this month

What if an item's page on #NeoDB ( #Fediverse alternative to #Letterboxd etc) doesn't have a WikiData button?

You can help out & fix that by searching the item on Wikidata, then entering the Wikidata URL into the search box on NeoDB. Then the item's page will refresh with a WikiData button where people can access links for the item's Wikipedia page in various available languages.

An item like a film on #NeoDB ( #Fediverse alternative to #Letterboxd etc) can have buttons for other instances & platforms next to an item's title.

If you click on a button, it will take you to that item's page on that other site.

The Wikidata icon is special: it might take you to that item's Wikidata page, but usually it offers a list of links to that item's Wikipedia page in multiple languages.

    You're welcome :)

You can also import people into #NeoDB !

E.g. Jami Gertz not hyperlinked on Solarbabies page

    1. Copy IMDb URL for her
    2. Enter it into NeoDB search box
    3. Wait a bit
    4. Copy the rest of the NeoDB URL after the instance: /person/3cGeIV9BvfgO9btwihvdQZ
    5. Edit the Solarbabies page & paste that into the box with her name (replacing her name)
    6. Save

Now her name is hyperlinked to a NeoDB page about her, not just plain text

#NeoDB (fediverse alternative to #Letterboxd etc) was started by Chinese folk & originally imported much data from Chinese sites like Douban. Which means often a media page has lots of/only Chinese

You can manually add English/other languages, but also you can import data from another source like IMDb, which will turn a lot of info into English

    - Copy the IMDb (or other compatible source) URL
    - Paste & enter it into the search box on NeoDB
    - Wait a bit
    - Media page will update

  7. For #Letterboxd refugees & other newcomers to #NeoDB ( #Fediverse media catalogue), a collection on NeoDB is like a list on Letterboxd or #IMDb

When you make a collection, there is no 'cover image' automatically created by NeoDB but you can add one yourself

Usually I get an image from openclipart.org/ & tweak it in an image editor. And I'm *terrible* at image editing 😁 If I can do it, so can you!
