Anyone who's ever had a mortgage with Mr. Cooper is now at risk for ID theft and other fraud, because the leak includes SSN and bank account information.

Anyone affected should immediately start monitoring all financial accounts on a regular basis (weekly if possible) and checking credit reports on a regular basis (these are now available weekly).

Send it certified mail, return receipt requested. Your mortgage is too important to skimp on postage.

Now, they have stopped accepting payments at all due to a hacking attack and data breach that has left their payment systems shut down for over a week.

The company has promised that no one will suffer from "late fees, penalties, or negative credit reporting" as a result of the attack.
