  1. Dialogue is not only the line itself. A scene also carries tone, interpretation, state changes, and cues.

Scene Designer v2 is a local-first browser tool for authoring and testing small deterministic scenes with mixed tone + dialogue events, multiple variants, resolved consequences, validation, and JSON import/export.

  2. My friend Michał „Xtense” Stopa is open to new opportunities! He is an exceptionally talented Lead Narrative Designer and Senior Writer looking for his next adventure in #GameDev. 🎮 Michał combines creative brilliance (emotionally driving narratives & expansive worldbuilding) with strong technical skills (DevOps, Linux, scripting). A rare and highly valuable crossover for any development team!

  3. The core design philosophy for "The Unwanted Calamity" was to weaponize nostalgia. I wanted to explore what happens when a domestic technology designed to solve loneliness is left to rot in isolation. The Calamivox doesn't hunt for food. It hunts for the emotional stimulus it was programmed to require. That sounds perfect for my game.

  5. The Wardrome Technocracy does not launch fleets.
    It deploys civilizations.

I’ve published a new piece of Wardrome lore exploring the moment of deploy:
when a fleet becomes a moving society,
when a human mind is transferred into an AI core,
and when everything crosses the gate with no destination and no orders.

    This is where Wardrome begins.
Not with conquest, but with release.

  8. "That's how it always begins. Very small."

The 'Hinton Hole' is a good example of an environmental feature that evolves over time.

If the player is going to revisit the same game space repeatedly, you can have the space evolve to communicate what is happening in the wider game. The change can communicate neglect, or development, or corruption, or gentrification, etc.

  9. Just came across Anna Anthropy's cool activity for helping folks learn environmental storytelling -- as in, how to communicate character info, relationships, histories, future events, etc.

It is a character generator with juicy prompts: w.itch.io/roll-up-a-guy

For interactive, film, TV, novel ideation.

Pair this with putting the description in a page, script, design doc, or design map.
