"The human body is widely contaminated by microplastics. They have also been found in blood, semen, breast milk, placentas and bone marrow. The impact on human health is largely unknown, but they have been linked to strokes and heart attacks".

You know, this is one of those times where I hope peer review finds out that they messed up somehow. The technique they employ (Pyrolysis Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) is apparently relatively novel, so... fingers crossed?

Bij het drinken uit plastic flesjes krijg je honderdduizenden minuscule deeltjes #nanoplastic binnen. Dat blijkt uit nieuw onderzoek van de Columbia University in New York.
Er was al langer bewijs voor plasticdeeltjes die ronddrijven in flesjes met bronwater, maar het concrete aantal van gemiddeld 240.000 deeltjes per liter werd niet eerder genoemd. Het ligt ook 10 tot 100 keer hoger dan eerder geschat. De gezondheidseffecten moeten nog nader worden onderzocht...
