And one more honorable mention - heard ThatAndyGuy live before and begged him to play more and finally got some albums this year. I love the sense of fun with his stuff

And I mentioned Watch Out For Snakes earlier because I've seen him perform before a couple times but this time I finally bought the dang albums. Love love love

Another I bought late last year but listened to this year
Mr.Marcaille
One man with a cello, a double kick bass drum, a cymbal, no shirt, and a grizzled voice. Fucking love.
His music's here https://mrmarcaille.bandcamp.com/album/heavy-freak-cello
But see this stuff yourself. Mind blowing

Honorable mention to Wolf Helvetica whose debut album I technically bought November last year but I didn't have a chance to listen until this year. Gives me strong NIN vibes. Queer industrial/electronica

Finishing off with more chiptune - Cyanide Dansen ( @cyanidedansen
) new to me. Nice human and I dig Cyanide's music and ethics

Yeah this was the year I learned of Tom Cardy. And now his stuff is stuck in my head. If you escape it, sorry I've just cursed you with him now.
Seriously, I have a thing for one man band stuff

Game Genie Sokolov brings so much to her style. Definitely deserves more attention with the energy she puts into her performances with live guitar + FM Tracker
Also randomly, she had me as a backup dancer once! 😅I hope I didn't detract from her show

Strangers that Clique - sure, they hired me to shoot a show but this was a grand fusion of styles and was fantastic live as well as recorded. More folks should give'em a listen. Hip hop + ska + RB + Funk + soul + indie rock, it's got something for everyone

Whoever recommended Kimya Dawson, thank you. She is right up my alley with her style and story telling. I frequently have trouble understanding lyrics (possibly partial hearing loss?) in music and accepted it but she's one of those singers I CAN understand

New to me this year:
Nyokee
In addition to her amazing pop song with chiptune backing, she also did a solid favor at a stage I work with and was an amazing sport helping last minute with a secret (not secret) show
Catchy tunes https://nyokee.bandcamp.com/album/nyokee-on-tour-january-2023-remastered-edition -
I don't have spotify but bandcamp tells me I played a lot of Watch Out For Snakes, Hollygorock, Dinaari, Laffe the Fox, Franz Nicolay, Emilyn Brodsky, and Toby Fox.
And now a thread following with way too much info on music that some of you may be interested to hear.
Unfortunately this is exclusively bandcamp links. If I find other links to support the artist, I'll give those but please remember bandcamp's convenience is hard to escape for some folks.
