I suspect no-one apart from me will ever need to know this, but the "#Topeak Alien X" and "#Topeak Alien II" models of #multitool have different pin diameters in the pin joints between the individual tool attachments and the #multitool body, so one can't straightforwardly swap individual tools between them.

I confess, I've never been able to bring myself to carry a multitool. For decades, I've owned a reasonable quality Leatherman knock-off, but I never carry it, and rarely use it. When I do, I just wish I'd picked up the right tool. I think it's in my car "emergency" tool kit now. Haven't used it there either.

Just contacted Leatherman to see if I could get my old Squirt PS4 repaired (the spring on the scissors has snapped, leaving them still functional but much harder to use) but they said it can’t be repaired because it’s assembled using rivets. I’ve had a bad toothache for going on 10 days now.
It started when a tooth just fell apart while I was eating pasta! Pasta!!!
The whole outside of the tooth is gone.
The filling it had fell out too.I’m self medicating. A sip of #SouthernComfort on the remains of the tooth & kept in my mouth for maybe, 10 minutes or so, gives me hours of no pain.
At +$50 a bottle it’s still cheaper than a trip to the dentist.
15 years or so ago, I used a #multitool to remove a tooth. I might again.

In a way those #leatherman multitools remind me of #Linux - you can customize it almost in any way you want - anything is possible but it takes time, effort, skills and knowledge.
But that’s what we love about it, right?

Recently I guess I finally made me a Wave I really like. First I installed an S30V blade years ago. Then a few days ago I put a Wave Plus plier head.
And then I finally managed to get a Rebar awl in there. Took quite a bit of time and effort filing things around to make it fit, but now that's a Wave I always wanted 👍🏻.
P.S.: one thing to add would be a LM ratchet of course, but that seems to be a surprisingly rare treasure for some unclear reason 😮

@schnedan @lauteshirn Ich habe bei meinem #Multitool (mit #Messer, #Säge und diversen anderen Werkzeugen) gerade mal nachgemessen. Je nachdem wie man genau misst (nur die reine Klinge oder alles herausstehende) können die 6cm schon überschritten sein. Das Tool trage ich zwar nicht immer mit mir rum, habe es aber für kleinere Reparaturen in der Aktentasche. Und mit der verlasse ich natürlich auch das Haus.
Das ist reine #Symbolpolitik.
