  4. CW: Moxtober 13: Guarded

Guilds of Ravnica and the Dimir Guild have me thinking about guarded secrets. Note that lands are allowed to be chosen, giving you a way to bluff having something scary under your deathtoucher.

I had played around with the idea of adding conditions to spells that say "if this was cast as a guarded secret", but I settled on the less parasitic "if this was cast from exile". #moxtober

  5. CW: Moxtober 12: Whale

Whale is a creature type, so I had to stretch it a bit to make a mechanic out of it. The first thing that came to mind was "beached whale", so I did a riff on Blue's still of temporary removal. Beached is a characteristic of a card like Monstrous, so it can't be removed like Blue's usual enchantment-based removal.

It'd be quite ridiculous if you could build a blue deck with no Islands, so you need to watch the power level. #moxtober #MTG

  6. CW: Moxtober 11: Cruel

I hard a hard time figuring out how to make a "Cruel" mechanic that required playing differently than how most #MTG players play anyway. So I was thinking, maybe Cruelty could be an attribute of permanents where if they can't take it out on the opponent, they take it out on your creatures instead.

The self-exile is mostly a flavor thing where "if you won't let me have my fun, I'm outta here". #Moxtober

Could also have some interesting "when this card is exiled" effects.
