#TechIsShitDispatch
I'm using #MicrosoftPlanner at work to organize my team's work, because the team is small enough and its organizational strategy informal enough that it is (or should be) sufficient, and because we get the basic version for free as part of our company #Microsoft365 subscription.
#Planner has always been kind of a dumpster fire, but they've recently taken it to a new level.

🟩 NEW Updates Finally Coming to Microsoft Planner!
Big changes are coming to Microsoft Planner that reshape team workflows.
Microsoft has a refreshed UI and tighter Teams integration.
Task comments move to a Teams style task chat and prior comments go to plan mailboxes. Goals are now in Planner Basic and Copilot brings AI Planner Agent to more users.💡 Task chat replaces comments

I can't recall seeing Microsoft product teams mess up the Dataverse table settings this badly before. What they've managed to do with the latest Microsoft Planner update is a cautionary tale of how a small code change (by an AI agent?) can wreak havoc:

Now that Microsoft is killing Project Online, it's a great time to share this #MicrosoftProject names and logos history pic.
40 years of Project.👏 I don't expect the Planner brand to be around for even a decade.😏

Another nail in the Microsoft Project coffin as Project Online will be shut down at the end of Sep 2026:

* Often partity never arrives (P4W).
* Promised migration tools don't either.
* Growth matters more than existing customers.More thoughts in a LI post (since that's where MS Project folks seem to hang out):

Lembrando que o Microsoft Planner é melhor para fazer LISTA de tarefas, enquanto o Microsoft Lists é melhor pra fazer PLANEJAMENTO. #Microsoft sendo Microsoft.

The home page of projects in the #Microsoft world can take you to 4 different experiences today:
Project for the web (launched 2019)
Project Operations (launched 2020)
Project Online (launched 2013)
"New Planner" (launched 2024)Soon, one of them will be eliminated. No, it's not the oldest one that's based on SharePoint. It's the #PowerPlatform based P4W. Because that has now been "reimagined" as Planner Premium. Which of course is technically different than the old #MicrosoftPlanner.🙈
