Meta progression in roguelites was fun for a while, but it's starting to feel unrewarding

ughhh i do not like how things are unlocked though
first, you have to complete a challenge ("kill 3000 enemies with lightning damage"), and that's fun
then, you have to pay a certain amount of the game's meta/persistent currency, "silver", to unlock it, which so far has been rare enough to let me buy about 25% of the things i've unlocked so far, and that's meh
plus… to unlock new characters you also have to have unlocked a prerequisite item, so it's challenge+silver+challenge+silver, and that's boring…
and… you also get character skins with silver, which means you have no reason to get one until you've unlocked all the items with gameplay effects…
hopefully the upgrade which increases the amount of silver earned (paid with silver) will make this less of a problem?

megabonk reminds me of risk of rain in a good way so far
unsurprisingly, one the first items i unlocked are the lens-maker glasses from risk of rain :neocat_laugh:

Ich habe mir den #8BitDo Ultimate 2c gekauft und der Controller ist erstaunlich gut. Liegt gut in der Hand, ist auf der #Switch2 top, sogar ohne Firmware Update. Funktioniert auch auf #Linux, getestet mit #Megabonk, auch wenn ich es nur über Kabel gemacht habe, weil ich keinen Bock habe, den neu verbinden zu müssen.
Das einzige, was mich wundert, ist, dass ich ihn nicht mit #fwupd updaten kann bzw. nicht gefunden wird, obwohl das eigentlich gehen sollte und auch von lsusb erkannt wird, sonst ginge ja gar nichts. -

So MegaBonk...
If you're a fan of games like Vampire Survivors, this is, and isn't your next favorite game. I'll tell ya' why.
In short, this is a 3D game very reminiscent of Vampire Survivors, but for one major difference. It's a LOT more active.
One of the things you can do with Vampire Survivors is get quickly to a zen state where you just do so much damage that you kill everything near you and you barely even have to worry about survival at all. The only things that can kill you are the occasional boss monster that can manage to get through the huge field of damage you do.
MegaBonk uses a lot of the same mechanics of Vampire Survivors, in a 3D world. But you (at least as far as I've seen so var) never get to that omnipowerful state where you're just untouchable. Maybe that does happen at some point farther in, but it's not fast. So you have to stay active and moving the entire time.
If you like the more "laid back" play of Vampire Survivors, this isn't for you. But if you like the idea of having to actively dodge enemies and strategically running around the map doing stuff it might be just your thing.

Fun achievements and challenges to unlock more items and characters.
Sour note is the final boss that nobody likes but only really beat for the item unlocks then never visit again.
And the game suffering from its own success by putting the leaderboard front and center while the massive playerbase solves every balance patches too quick to enjoy the theorycrafting or playing casually without chasing the scoreboard.
