  3. Ok. The rough sketch of a #max4live device turned into a full blown techno track…….

Going to let it brew for a day or two and add some more elements I think but I like it!

  4. The “big idea" being that sample and hold on filters is often a fun patch - the device would focus on envelopes (with modulation - a thing not everything lets you do), modulating resonance and different rhythm patterns. Let you use lives new scale stuff too and quantise the filter pitches!

  5. SO - might need to focus on music tech for income.

As a starter for 10 wondering about releasing some #max4live devices of things i use often.

Tinkering with the idea of a sample and hold filter/sequence kind of thing (this is a _way_ basic version of what I have in mind but already kind of fun)

  6. Spent the day multitasking deconstructing an artwork, booking travel for a new project, emailing collaborators and fiddling with a #Max4Live patch for #Ableton. And researching murder mysteries on the side. #detectivedramas 🧐😆

  7. Finally got around to adapting my Hitbox to MIDI #MaxMSP code to #Max4Live. Bonus points for the fact that it just freaking worked the first time. Just had to tweak the layout for the smaller size… #HappyComposer

  8. I was asked recently to play a #noise show with an old friend in Chicago in a couple of months. Problem is, I haven't made anything resembling noise music in, like, 15 years, so here was my test to see if I could do it!

I had a blast making it, and I'm happy with how it came out, so I'm goin' to Chicago!

    Live #experimental #music #performance using #Ableton #Push + #Max4Live devices.

  9. Saw an interesting question on the #LinnStrument forum asking about sending preset recalls from Ableton. Yes, it's possible with NRPNs. Here's the #Max4Live device - github.com/bfuhrman/LinnStrume

  10. #Max4Live is kind of irritating if you're used to trad programming. There are no shortcuts, you've just got to cable everything as if you were knitting your device from ether.

  11. Learning #Max4Live is incredibly hard unless you want to watch a *lot* of videos. Very rewarding but it's sort of like a cross between autodidacticism and panning for gold.

All the written tutorials are like "draw a circle ... now draw the rest of the fucking owl"
