I have found a new subject for reflection and experimentation:

breathing life—a form of substance—into irrational numbers and their decimals by assigning them new roles as integers.

I believe the beauty truly lies there, beyond the decimal point, in those minute details.

Niche software.

I built this tool to help a composition process. It takes an input sound, analyses it to work out the constituent frequencies, and samples them at regular intervals.

The output is a “transcription” in musical notation, including a simplified layer that smooths out small fluctuations to better represent the original input (with controls for tolerance to adjust to taste).

In the video, the rhythmic sound is synthesised from the analysis.

I needed to try out the patch with polyphony, then I fine-tuned the probability settings and softened the phase on my cycle~ osc, which were really harsh in the high frequencies. I think I like this patch 🥰

After I clone to my media laptop’s new NVME, I am gonna take my friend’s advice to just fully encrypt my next #linux install.

I had to get this machine near the end of uni to run some pretty heavy Windoze-only programs like #maxmsp

Normally, I have tended towards unencrypted installs and encrypted volumes with the private data there. The furthest I have gotten towards full disk encryption on my own is to fully encrypt an entire drive for data.

Why have I gotten into this situation? I have my reasons, but if I am honest, I think they’re weak to be beneath enumerating despite how compelling they have been to me personally .

@palomakop's Week of Patching (July 6–12) event looks like a lot of fun! I put it in my calendar, and I'll definitely be making some fun Max/MSP stuff for it.
