"The “loss of history” could not be more evident. In the face of a process of fragmentation and global military escalation, wherein competition between states and power blocs intensifies, the “anti-imperialist” left invokes the constellation of the first half of the 20th century — marked by world wars between imperial powers and wars of national liberation, responsible for the expansion of national state formations within a context of “state capitalisms”.
As a result, it loses sight of the fact that, instead of an “anti-imperialism” bringing about conditions for liberation, what we now face is a deepening global crisis of the social form itself, within which national liberation struggles made sense and concluded historically.
Rather than an expansion of national formations and sovereignties through wars of national liberation, what we now observe is the decomposition of the modern states themselves formed in this historical process.

This is a reality that is hard to acknowledge in “realist” analyses that seek to justify the necessity and objectivity of war by resorting to the constellation of wars of liberation. Such analyses have not only clung to theories whose historical reference points have been exhausted, but also to a view of capitalism as an “eternal return” of the same, as if certain forms of social mediation and social dynamics possessed an infinite regenerative capacity and were not themselves subject to a profound crisis that poses challenges for the left.This blind spot of “anti-imperialism,” however, is consistent with the national framing of conflicts, isolating them from their belonging to a dynamic, qualitatively modified global social plane — one defined by the globalisation of production chains and flows of monetary capital — which is at the same time a structural crisis of accumulation."

MAGA masculinity takes its narrative form from the assumption that men (by which I mean white, working class men) have been assaulted by a feminized, bureaucratized, weakened country, governed by a shadowy deep state that burdens society with unnecessary rules, and panders to the demands of women, minorities (notably, sexual minorities) and immigrants. At the core of the vaguely articulated complaints of self-proclaimed, marginalized white men is the despised notion that being a man involves a complex variety of possibilities."
