2/2 The biggest downside is that swelling may never go down entirely (due to internal ligament scar tissue) so I shall forever have slightly mismatched first fingers.
Which, I know will be *very bad* for ~my brain~ but no one else will care - and functionality not looks are the key - but yeah.
It's taken 12 weeks at this point but it's almost fully healed.
oh and thankfully I am done with all kinds of sticky bandage / restrictive plastic splints !
Yay !

1/2 Final (hopefully) hand / finger update:
Can bend finger fully, still stiff and - as yet - I cannot bend the top at all, but been given two weeks of exercises with a roller to slowly extend mobility.
Have an open ended appointment- can contact the depart anytime in the next three months, after which I shall be 'officially not a patient on record' anymore
'Drop' is down from Zero to Minus 2 which is apparently optimal healing for #MalletFinger

Hand Therapy Update:
Finger drop has reduced from Ten degrees to Zero.
Didn't tell the Hand Therapist but felt like I'd aced a test I studied *really hard* for.
Two more weeks of interchangable spilt wearing left:
Figure of Eight Tape/ Figure of 8 Plastic support / Night splint Immobaliser -
Hand Update- two more weeks of permanent splint wearing - but otherwise finger is healing well.
This splint is definitely less intrusive than the last one but still can't get wet.

19 more days of finger splint wearing left..
🤕
Been having nightmares about the potential state of it under the cast 😫
