For my non-French friends: gonna link a few Gims music videos for you. You don't have to speak French to enjoy Gims' incredible singing voice. It's so powerful and intense yet so controlled. I've been a Maître Gims fan for years. But I just realized that this massive hit maker, this global ambassador for French music and language, is not a French citizen.
He was born in Congo. Both his parents were likewise not born in France. They came to France when he was 2. And, he seems to have two wives, which is possibly the biggest sticking point. It's still silly. Borders are bullshit.
Anyway here he is collaborating with Lil Wayne and French Montana. If you don't know him, check it out, if only to hear the sound of his amazing voice, which my spouse has likened to a hurricane for its pure overwhelming power.
