@ai6yr
A good #Subwoofer test might be the #LowEndVortex episode of the weekly #ListeningClub seriesWhere people gather to listen to records and comment on them
That week was dedicated to everything #Bass related 𝄢
https://thelisteningclub.blogspot.com/2025/11/the-listening-club-30th-november-2025.htmlHappens to open with my short contribution that demonstrates the monster low-end of the #accordion’s dynamic range with a bit of processing 🎛️

#listeningClub Almost picked
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaILQDcJZAo because for years, if I got new headphones, I'd play this, just to check how they handled subbass etc -

#listeningClub that was a fine mix, thanks everyone especailly @saucer

So my other choice for this #LowEndVortex would've been Towers of Dub by The Orb, particuarly the "ambient mix" coz I like the goofy spoken word comedy samples in it. I am surprised we didn't hear more dub & reggae in #ListeningClub today tbh.

Right then, that was the #LowEndVortex that was, and a splendidly subby sound selection it was too. Many thanks to everyone for chipping tunes in, and double plus thanks to @saucer for the fine mixmaking.
We return to regularly scheduled programming next Sunday with @AccordionBruce in the chair, so until then, thanks for stopping by, good to see everyone - hoping for a mighty fine week for y'all. -

@SimonLandmine veering into Tuvan throat singing in places. Which makes me think of another track I could've chosen for this #LowEndVortex

Partly in honour of Andy Rourke, RIP, as well as Mani, The Smiths funkiest moment there, Barbarism Begins at Home, SUCH an unexpectedly danceable track imo.

@akx into a ballon pillow, perhaps.... always liked Jarvis Cocker (I think)'s description of mid 90s Jungle bass before Reese Bass dominated as sounding like a melon falling down a well
only recently found out that bass sound is an 808 kick with the sustain maxed out pitched up and down

and it was an absolute pleasure seeing the kids of today going ape to it during a Shirrelle set from a few years ago... and the kids reviving and reworking mid 90s Jungle is ok by me.
Even if it does make me understand why my Mod uncle was a bit 'can't you kdis get your own music' when I used to dress up like a misc 60s garage band member in the early 90s

My that was something 🐝
#LowEndVortexLoving this variety @saucer

And this was the Fixate Jungle reworking of the Speed Garage banger 'Rip Groove' .... and I both like the reworking, and love the original.... Speed Garage formed out of the US Garage House played at 2nd room of Jungle raves, and basically is House + Jungle bass/skittering percussion...
The current revival of Speed Garage is great, and has caused me to go down a Niche/old school bassline wormhole for my 3km morning walk workout

@SimonLandmine oops, that was my non-online wife, Meg, who thought of Primus immediately when i mentioned today’s theme… #lowEndVortex #listeningClub
