  1. This year I grew two luffa plants for the first time. They took over half of our garden and I now have dozens of fruits.

    This evening I peeled and cleaned the first few sponges, which turned out to be quite a pita, especially with any fruit that are still green.

    Lesson learned for processing the rest is to wait until their skin is partially (but not very) brown, which makes the peeling part a lot easier, plus there is less gunk to remove...

  11. This year's loofahs are taking their sweet time to ripen. I've already started next year's seedlings due to how slow growing they are, so I want these to hurry up already 😂. We have them growing in our atrium just outside the kitchen. Who knew you can grow your own bath sponges right here in San Francisco! #loofah #sponge
