  1. "Timothy Neale’s How to Control Fire on a Burning Continent
critiques the colonial logics of control deployed to manage unruly environments and explores alternative forms of environmental stewardship."

"Each year, Australia faces increasingly unprecedented wildfires, marked both by their scale and by the intense public disagreements about their political, cultural, and ecological causes. How to Control Fire on a Burning Continent is a critical and ethnographic exploration of wildfire management in Australia and the technoscientific systems of control that shape its current and future possibilities. Timothy Neale observes how two seemingly opposing forces—an entrenched sense of crisis and widespread normalization—combine to form an apparatus of institutional fire management that increasingly centers technical control and militarization. While sympathetic to the double binds many fire management professionals find themselves in, Neale ties contemporary wildfire problems to ongoing colonization and Indigenous dispossession, exploring Indigenous-led land management and cultural burning as a practical assertion of sovereignty. Through dialogue and collaboration with professional fire managers and Indigenous environmental stewards, Neale calls for a collective movement beyond control thinking by fostering new alliances and modes of coping with, rather than commanding, our flammable world." >>

  2. Is pesticide spray on food leading to movement disorders?
    Precautionary principle - ban paraquat

"Paraquat and the related herbicide diquat are fast-acting weedkillers that farming groups say are essential for controlling resistant weeds."

"Multiple epidemiological studies from different groups of scientists have shown that people exposed to paraquat have around a three times greater risk [of developing Parkinson's disease]."

'The chemicals have been under review by the APVMA since 1997 and they are banned in the EU, the UK and China due to their toxicity.'

"There are now multiple epidemiological studies or real-world exposure studies that have suggested that paraquat increases the risk of Parkinson's disease by around threefold...Like Australia, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continues to allow restricted use of the pesticide despite ongoing health concerns." >>

    Déjà vu
    * " “Rome Plows,” massive bulldozers with an armor-fortified cutting blade, could clear 1,000 acres a day. Enormous concussive bombs, known as “daisy cutters”, flattened forests and set off shock waves killing everything within a 3,000-foot (900-meter) radius, down to earthworms in the soil. " >>

    "Structural violence
is a form of violence wherein some social structure or social institution may harm people by preventing them from meeting their basic needs or rights."

When residents express their concerns about the prolonged toxic pollution to the relevant state institutions, the response is along the lines of 'close up your house, stay indoors or move away and shut up.'

  5. Forestry - The production of toxic pollution to get a few woodchips out of complex biodiversity

Before the leftovers of the cellulose factory (forest 'plantations') in this area are incinerated, a copious cocktail of pesticides is applied.

  6. Toxic smoke pollution maximising harm

The government's Forestry Corporation of NSW is still polluting the Bellingen, Gleniffer and Repton area with toxic smoke. Wet piles and the green timber piles are smouldering. After a cocktail of pesticides was applied, the wet piles with green timber were set alight and are left smouldering for days, maximising the toxic smoke pollution over a wide area.

These negative externalities occur when the consumption or production of a commodity (cellulose) causes a harmful effect to a third party.

It appears that the Forestry Corporation and EPA evade or pass responsibility and the many concerned residents ring 000 and overburden the small Gleniffer Bushfire Brigade now...

It should have been a Great Koala National Park.
One can assume that the proposed logging along Tuckers Nob State forest, compartment 26/27 will also look like this.
