  1. I just published the January report for open source software packages for Linux on #IBMZ and #LinuxONE 🐧

    The team tested nearly two dozen projects, including doxygen, elastic Logstash, and PHP.

    Elsewhere in the open source world, Apache Tika and WeKan began releasing s390x containers, and libdfp was on-boarded to our GitHub Actions service 🎉

    The list for November is an impressive one with nearly three dozen projects tested, including Apache Cassandra, fluentd, and neo4j

    In October 2025 validation was maintained for two dozen projects, including #ApacheActiveMQ #InfluxDB & #Rails 🎉

    We also on-boarded libdfp & qsv to our new hosted GitHub Actions runners, and saw Rarr add CI and VictoriaTraces begin releasing binaries 🎁

  5. There were a lot of fun things about #IBMTechXchange 2025 last week, but one of my favorites was our "Doom Takeover" at the Monday evening expo hall party. Instead of running our demos, I just had people logging into an IBM #LinuxONE #mainframe and playing Freedoom over VNC #Doom 😁

    Working on documentation for a whole matrix of support (client vs. server OSes), stay tuned!

  6. There are growing challenges in managing cryptographic assets while preparing for the emerging risks of quantum computing.

  12. I'm running a virtual tutorial at IBM TechXchange Dev Day on June 25th!

  18. Today the #IBM #LinuxONE 5 was announced 🎉

    I share some pictures, including a couple directly from the test floor from @psqlctln !

    I'll be honest, I dig into AI a bit. But listen, the new AI accelerator is really cool, and the clients we work with use them for some real, beefy, inferencing work (like real-time fraud detection for that credit card you tap). No trendy AI here, just serious stuff IBM Research has been working on for years.

    Two of my engineers were asked to elaborate RH HA on #LinuxonZ. The outcome is awesome.

    They created a compelling paper with hints and tricks and practical examples to help you configure and use the Red Hat Enterprise Linux High Availability Add-on. Clusters on #lpar #kvm #zVM are covered as well as the use-case to make infrastructure for Red Hat #OpenShift Container Platform highly available.
