In 1803, Johan Werfel published a grammar of Danish that was supposedly "for women". It was also both "practical and theoretical".
I digitized the book for the @internetarchive and wrote something about the book for #Lingoblog [In Danish]. I'll try to summarize the most interesting points here! I was curious about what it meant that it was "for women" (besides a general interest in reading old grammar books) 🧵

Patienter bruger skriftsproget på bestemte måder i e-konsultationer - muligvis for at kompensere for manglen på andre nonverbale udtryk, men i hvert fald for at udtrykke affekt, fx smerte

Lingoblog writes about the South #Jutlandic dialect word "mutte", meaning "(to) kiss". It has a noun form in "mut" or "muttes". They don't consider if it has something to do with the Standard Danish "møs/mys" (also a childish word for a kiss, mainly on the cheek) 🤔

For the EU elections, they're doing "Meet the Parties" on Danish television. This means they're doing "yes/no"-rounds again, where the politician is supposed to only answer yes or no. I wrote about this format earlier, and the interviewer work required, for the 2022 elections to the Danish parlament, which uses the same format (including an initial round of (dis)confirming statements): https://www.lingoblog.dk/en/forced-yes-or-no-response-as-an-interview-format/ #Lingoblog

Apparently I had to learn from #Lingoblog that "Stromae" is a reversion of "maestro"... of course it seems obvious now!

#Lingoblog has regained access to their #Instagram profile! It was hacked back in September right after being created, which prompted my entry on fake instagram profiles: https://www.lingoblog.dk/jeg-vil-elske-os-at-kende-hinanden-bedre-om-samtaler-med-instagram-scammere/

2 months ago, Lingoblog opened an Instagram profile. Few weeks later, the account was taken over and filled with linguistically irrelevant pictures. 😞
On this occasion, I've written something about my chatting with suspicious accounts on Instagram, for Lingoblog. 📘 My experience is that these conversations are somewhat different from "normal" ones! (In Danish, but thread below)

Re-reading this #Lingoblog entry celebrating its 5-year-birthday, wondering how many readers are going to understand how this very positive text is actually a critique 🤔 If you know, you know...
