I could post so many photos but will finish off with this last one.
I left sharing about #LakeTyrell until the end as it was probably the highlight of our brief holiday. I will resume my regular posting from tomorrow.

At this time of year the salt has a pinkish hue caused by a micro-algae. [Edit: @abhijith_balan, your guess of fungus was therefore a good guess]
The lake had its own website - see https://laketyrrell.com

We also visited the lake to capture sunset on another day. There were quite a few people here by remote Australian standards but the lake is so vast it is not a problem.

I love this place and could spend hours here. There are so many photographs to take. This one is of sunrise this morning.

We have visited previously on a stormy day in winter. The character if the lake was completely different. It had the foreboding and other-wordly look that could be on the cover if a science fiction book.
Below is the 'keyhole' viewing platform. In winter the water laps its edges. The high evaporation rates in the shallow lake in summer means that the edge of the lake recedes at least 500 metres from here.

This morning we woke at 5:30am to catch the 6:18 sunrise at the spectacular Lake Tyrell salt lake. It is a vast lake, part of which hosts a sustainable salt mining operation. The authorities have also created a road and viewing platforms to encourage photographers. Below it is dawn on the lake.
