Day 2: Camp True Colors clay workshop at ALSO Youth. We painted our pieces today and I explained the firing process and how the clay and colors will transform.
A10 year old asked me “how to make yellow” and didn’t know about primary and secondary colors. Unlike the other child I was working with who also didn’t know this kind of thing, she is homeschooled. Idk—maybe this info is obsolete nowadays. Feels strange to this GenXer. #LGBTQ #KidsArt

Protože jste mi tak pěkně poradili s mobilním tarifem, jdu na poradu skrz #telefon.
Potřebuju dceři nahradit #Unihertz #Jelly něčím ne moc velkým a výkonnějším. Jednoznačně #bazar.
Nemáte někdo nějakej tip na cokoliv? Ideálně hackovatelný tak, aby se do něj moc nemontoval #Google. Když to bude úplně open friendly, vůbec se zlobit nebudu a čím líp to bude fotit, tim lepší tady budete mít snímky #kidsart 😁

Ahoj, hahaha"

A fan of my comic told me they really like my painterly style (which I use in dream sequences in the comic) and should offer children's book illustration services in that style.
So in case you haven't heard - I do actually offer those services. The price is based on page count and complexity. Get a quote: [email protected]

Had a couple of my friends’ kids over for a #pottery making session. I’ve known the boy for a year and a half now and I just met the girl for the first time at that skatepark event a couple of weeks ago. I bisque fired the mug she made and today she got to decorate it with colorful underglazes. It was very freaking #cute. They are 4 and 7 years old. I think the moms had a good time hanging out too. #KidsArt

Just finished working on some pages for a kids' art #zine we're making for upcoming community #Kwanzaa celebrations. Each child will be given a gift bag with zines, stickers, clay and other little art supplies. Last year, I just attended the celebration and this year I'm happy to be involved. I've never celebrated Kwanzaa in my home, but its a really good way to feel connected and grounded in positive ethics.

These photos are from last weekend. I provided a free Clay Play table for an event at the local skatepark. My husband’s a skateboarder & skatepark designer so I got linked in through his network. It was so sweet, fun and, best of all, relaxing. A few kids got hooked and stayed at the table for the entire four hours I was there. It’s incredible how #clay can captures kids’ attention in that way. #kidsart #pottery #ceramics

I am pretty proud about these spontaneous comic strips that my 5yo made, sure I wrote down the text based on them telling me what the story is, but still it was totally unexpected because we were originally making paper chains then one thing led to the other!

My daughter who is about to be 6 drew this picture today, I presume inspired by us playing with a little toy disco ball and a flashlight last night, and I am blown away at how cool it is!

A 12 yr old Black girl came to my Juneteenth workshop and sculpted this small terracotta bust—focused, joyful, sure of herself. I had just returned from #AugustaSavage’s hometown the night before (see previous posts). As a child, Savage was beaten for sculpting #clay animals. (Her dad was a preacher and saw them as idols.) She faced endless obstacles over her lifetime, but kept creating. Seeing this young artist reminded me: her path is clearer now because of those who came before. #KidsArt

CW: Artificial text - On few occasion it's also funny. Meow

Today's #Juneteenth celebration #clay workshop was such a fun way to pass cultural knowledge to the next generation. Kids learned coil building and were taught how pottery skills were traditionally passed down through the family by women to their daughters, nieces and granddaughters in Nigeria as well as many other cultures around the world, including those Indigenous to the Americas. And of course, everyone got a chance to play the udu. #pottery #ceramics #KidsArt #KaaboClay

I have a kindergarten aged friend who sometimes comes and makes pottery in my studio. These are his latest works: a snaggletooth gator and “basket” made with white stoneware and glazed, and an unglazed terrracotta piece. I can’t remember what he told me about that one. I taught him to coil build and he also just freestyle molds some pieces (like the gator head). Fun stuff. #KidsArt #pottery #clay #ceramics
