The Blue Screen of Death
An overreliance on technology means that invariably a writer will be left hanging when said technology breaks. I have become so used to the screen that I spent the last several days moping around, unable to work on my latest novel.
My plethora of notebooks is a testament to how I used to write. Why is it so difficult for me to write without technology now? Pencils break, but there is always a pencil sharpener.
And another pencil.
Ink pens run out of ink, but I have plenty more in reserve. Paper never breaks. It can brown or get damaged, but I’ve had these notebooks for a LONG time.
So it is a reminder to me that while technology is a helpful tool, it can also be a handicap.
I put pen to paper.
Lesson learned.
Maybe.

Collaborating Takes Many Forms – #LiveMusic #Recording
What do you think of when you hear or read the word "collaboration"? I've been reminded that collaborating can take many forms. Be Ready In my experience, working on music with other people comes most often from simply being open to the possibilities. If I can be ready to start collaborating at any moment, those moments are more like to show up. This summer was no exception. I started off with 8th Amendment. What a glorious time that was. Coordinating the schedules of nine people (the […]https://muz4now.com/2026/collaborating-takes-many-forms-livemusic-recording/

Har varken tecknat eller målat något denna veckan. I alla fall inte i någon större utsträckning. Får bli ändring på det idag. Klistermärken tillverkas inte av sig självt
I haven’t really drawn or painted anything this week. At least not much. That needs to change today. Stickers don’t make themselves. ☕️🎩👌💫

Success Is Far More Dangerous Than Failure
Success isn't what scares me most. It's the panicked artist in my head who believes every achievement must be earned all over again before the next sunrise.https://coverlog.wordpress.com/2026/08/06/success-is-far-more-dangerous-than-failure/

Dear Artist, Please Stop Refreshing the Page
There comes a moment every artist knows. You're working. Time disappears. Your coffee goes cold. You forget to reply to messages. Then you finally look up, and somehow it's already evening. Psychologists call this the flow state. Artists simply call it... Tuesday. Then you finish. You lean back, stare at your latest creation, and suddenly your brain is left with just one question: "So... is it any good?" Paintings, book covers, novels, music, and photographs all have one thing in […]https://coverlog.wordpress.com/2026/08/05/dear-artist-please-stop-refreshing-the-page/

Revisiting the Slowmover Archive
The Archaelogy of a Blog
I have begun a long-overdue journey through the Slowmover archives.
#356AM #Blogging #CreativeProcess #DigitalPreservation #Editing #LiteraryReflection #memory #OldWritings #OnlinePublishing #PersonalArchives #Readership #RevisitingThePast #Slowmover #WordPress #WordPressTags #Writing
Some of the earliest posts date back to 2008, which means I am not simply editing a website. I am revisiting nearly two decades of thought, faith, frustration, creativity, questions, poems, prayers, half-formed ideas, and occasional flashes of clarity.
The practical work is considerable. Old posts must be converted into the current block format. Broken links need to be repaired or removed. Categories and tags have multiplied, wandered off, or lost their usefulness. Images may be missing. Formatting has shifted. Publication information needs to be updated. Some pieces require only a little cleaning, while others invite substantial editing, correction, or expansion. A few may no longer need to remain at all.
There are sentences I would not write in the same way today. There are opinions I would express with more care, confidence, humility, or nuance. There are unfinished thoughts that still seem to be waiting for me. Some posts feel surprisingly current. Others belong unmistakably to the particular time in which they were written.
That, however, is part of their value.
A blog archive is not a polished autobiography. It is closer to an archaeological site. Layers of language remain where they were first deposited. Old concerns lie beside forgotten enthusiasms. There are fragments of previous selves: the person I was, the person I hoped to become, and the person who could not yet imagine where life would lead.
Editing these writings is, therefore, not simply an attempt to make them look better. It is an act of conversation with the past.
Sometimes, the earlier writer embarrasses me. Sometimes, he surprises me. Occasionally, I envy his urgency. At other times, I want to sit beside him and tell him that certain things will be all right, while other things will prove more complicated than he knows.
I do not intend to erase that earlier voice completely. Revision can easily become a kind of historical dishonesty, making it appear that we always possessed the wisdom we acquired only later. I want to preserve something of each post’s original moment while making the writing clearer, more readable, and more useful to those who may encounter it now.
Some posts will be corrected.
Some will be expanded.
Some will be combined with related pieces.
Some will receive new introductions or concluding reflections.
Some may be republished so that writings buried beneath years of newer material can find readers again.
And some will quietly disappear.
Whenever possible, these earlier writings will be returned to the calendar on the day they were originally written. When the exact date is uncertain or another date seems more appropriate, I will choose one that best reflects the piece’s history. Most will appear at 3:56 a.m., the time I entered this world as a baby.
That hour has become a kind of personal timestamp.
Each restored post will be given another beginning at the time of my own beginning—a small act of literary rebirth. Words written years ago will reenter the world at 3:56 in the morning, while most readers are asleep and the day itself has barely begun.
The choice is partly sentimental, partly symbolic, and perhaps a little strange. That seems appropriate for Slowmover.
The work raises an interesting question: When is a piece of writing finished?
Publication once seemed like an ending. I wrote something, pressed “publish,” and sent it into the world. Yet digital writing rarely stays fixed. Links decay. Platforms change. Images vanish. Language develops. The writer changes. The readers change. The world surrounding the words becomes a different world.
Perhaps a blog is not a shelf of completed objects but a living garden. Some plants need pruning. Some need transplanting. Some have gone to seed and unexpectedly produced something new. Some were planted in poor soil. Some have become tangled together. A few stubborn shoots continue to grow despite years of neglect.
Returning to Slowmover has also reminded me how much writing has accumulated here. The sheer number of posts makes the project daunting, but it also feels like a gift. I have spent years wondering whether I had written enough, accomplished enough, or found enough readers. The archive offers another answer: the words are here. They have been gathering quietly.
Readership matters to me. I would like these writings to be found, read, shared, and perhaps remembered. Updating titles, tags, categories, excerpts, publication details, images, and formatting is partly an effort to make that possible.
But readership is not only a matter of numbers. Sometimes, one person discovering the right piece at the right moment is enough to justify its continued existence.
There is also pleasure in the revisiting. Editing the archive is not merely maintenance. It is an opportunity to encounter forgotten ideas, recover abandoned paths, and recognize themes that I could not see while I was living and writing them. A post that once appeared isolated may now reveal itself as part of a much longer conversation.
This process will take time. That seems appropriate for a place called Slowmover.
I will move through the archive gradually, post by post, repairing what is broken, clearing away what obscures, and listening for what still has something to say.
The past cannot be rewritten entirely.
But it can be reread.
It can be tended.
It can be awakened in the darkness before dawn.
And sometimes, at 3:56 in the morning, it can enter the world again. -
