Gnome tweaks doesn't work as exptected #keyboardlayout #shortcuts

Messing about with my #KeyboardLayout again (that’s half the fun of #QMK or #ZMK etc in a programable #MechanicalKeyboard), this time the mechanism to get capital letters without a dedicated shift key… ⇧
I’m giving #AutoShift another go (long press for capitals), alongside #CapWords (like caps lock, but it turns off at the end of a word), and #MagicCommaShift (comma before letter means shift) 🪄 ⇧

Stuff that just sucks. E.g. has abysmal usability and is very badly implemented:
#android + #physicalKeyboard + #keyboardlayout + #shortcuts
Choose any two of the four and the great spaghetti monster save you

@vavakado for my #KeyboardLayout I'm using a variant of #HandsDownPromethium https://www.reddit.com/r/KeyboardLayouts/comments/1g66ivi/hands_down_promethium_snth_meets_hd_silverengram/ (which has a vim cursor cluster but I rarely use it), and the modal #HelixEditor in the terminal. I picked it as I wanted to try a letter on a thumb key (#ErgoKeyboard), and it scored well on various metrics (and was the new hotness at the time).

💻 How do you decide between the 60% and 80% layouts? 🤔
🔹 60% Layout (UHK 60)
Compact and minimalist – perfect for small desks and portability.
Ideal for travelers or those with limited desk space.🔹 80% Layout (UHK 80)
Expanded layout with additional dedicated keys for direct access.
Comfortable for extended typing sessions with fewer key combinations.💡 Our keyboards come in both layouts – pick the one that fits you best.

Unsure if I've even mentioned this anywhere before,
but I've maintain a "Steam Curator" page for the last few years, keeping a log of how well games handle custom keyboard layouts - feel free to follow it if you want to see a note on Steam Store pages telling you whether a game's keybind settings are up-to-snuff:
https://store.steampowered.com/curator/41937625-Can-You-Change-The-Keybinds
spoiler: they rarely are. )= #gaming #accessiblegaming #keyboard #mechanicalkeyboards #ergonomickeyboard #ergonomics #QMK #ZMK #keyboardlayout #Colemak #indiedev #gamedev

This is the oddest #KeyboardLayout I've seen in quite a while: https://www.cnx-software.com/2025/01/20/bandit-pc32-standalone-colorforth-keyboard-computer-is-powered-by-the-raspberry-pi-rp2350-microcontroller/
And yes, the #OrtholinearKeyboard of that small #handheld computer seems to be a #MechanicalKeyboard, they say it has #Kailh Brown switches, seemingly MX compatible.
Moving around the O and especially the P and L key reminds me of the #keyboard layout of the #Enigma, also because I also already was experimenting with such layouts: https://github.com/xtaran/XTK/blob/master/Painigma27.md

Hmmmmmm, am I the only one to wonder why computer keyboards have put the „0“ to the far right and the „1“ to the far left? It‘s a constant nuisance to enter binary code… #ComputerSciences #BinaryCode #keyboardlayout

I am using #Archlinux and want to replace my current #keyboardlayout with the #workman layout.
The #archwiki and #manpages are incredible - but I find myself unable to grasp which steps exactly I have to do, to accomplish what I aim to achieve.
Can some friendly person help me out, or give me a hint on what needs to be done?
