I have found voice input to be super helpful. I use it entirely for prose: notes, tasks, and reminders. I **don't** use it to make the machine "do things" or for coding (but that's just me ... you do you; and also, I don't use it for coding **yet**).
I currently use two tools:
* Spokenly (phone + laptop)
* Just Press Record (watch + phone)Each has advantages. Both produce transcriptions which I then "route" to the appropriate place (Things, Obsidian, Fantastical) with Sharing.
Just Press Record also runs on my watch, so I can use it while driving or other situations where the phone is inconvenient, illegal, or unavailable. I can later look at a list and handle them one at a time or in bulk.
Spokenly is significantly more accurate. You pick the underlying model, so you can decide if you want local-only (as I do, so no fees of any kind), size (controls memory used and speed of translation, at the cost of accuracy), and what spoken languages it knows. You can switch at will; and you don't have to have the same model on your phone as on your laptop. You typically handle results in Spokenly immediately (for a while I thought this was the only choice), but they are saved and you can look at them all in History and deal with them from there.
I'm still playing with which models are the best balance of speed and accuracy for my use case. On my phone I'm using "Distil-Whisper Small (English Only)". On my Mac, the same but "Medium".
This doesn't **sound** like a huge win. I certainly didn't expect much when I decided to try it. But it turns out to punch far above its weight.

I have listened to the @atpfm for years. Maybe since Neutral, I can't remember. And every time the Vision Pro comes up, @caseyliss will mention his feelings about “socially acceptable” behavior, I.e., is it okay to wear the Vision Pro in specific situations.
Whenever he says this, I think to myself: “Jeeze, that's ridiculous. Just wear the damn thing.”.
I'm always working on improving my #productivity. I keep a list of things to do. When I think of new things, I add them to the list. Of course, maybe (usually) they're not for today, but I have an Inbox where I put things that haven't been put yet into their right place. Sometimes it's hard to write down the new task (like while driving) a thing you must do immediately, or you will forget.
Lately, I've been using a voice recorder (for me that's #JustPressRecord which runs on both my watch and my phone). And suddenly I was facing Casey's problem: is it socially acceptable for me to talk to my watch right now? And it mattered. Alone in my car on my commute, it's an easy decision. Walking around inside the mall it's a totally different decision. Sometimes I agree with Casey; sometimes I disagree; and sometimes I just _think_ I disagree.
By the way: voice recording on my commute is incredibly useful; I don't touch my phone of course. I use the watch. Also by the way: on a mall walk, most other people there are buried in their phones, and some horrible fraction are holding their phones in front of them having a loud conversation using the speaker phone. How is _that_ okay?

I went on my first entirely electric bus yesterday. Super-quiet, very smooth ride, so I captured a little bit of it just using my iPhone and #JustPressRecord.

Today I took the kids out to Battersea Powerstation today for a spot of shopping. Bought Alice some new shoes, visited a perfume shop and came away with a selection of very nice samples, had a very fine lunch and generally had a good time.
Here's a clip as we are sitting down to our lunch at a burger place as captured by the #Sennheiser #Ambeo headset using #JustPressRecord -
Playing with the editor in the #IOS app called #JustPressRecord and having trouble with selection.
