  1. Apropos of nothing, I still dream that one day @flexibits will incorporate the day and date into the #Fantastical Timeline complication so I don’t need to use up another complication spot for that purpose.

I once even Photoshopped an idea to include it in small size to represent how it could appear.

  2. The past week I’ve had a vague feeling that something on my #AppleWatch was—different. Wasn’t sure what will just now.

I’d gone a month on medical leave with no work appointments, so none of them showing in the @flexibits #Fantastical complication on my watch. But I did block off the month on my work calendar with an FMLA label. So most all the time except when a personal event overrode, I saw FMLA on the screen.

It’s been a little weird this past week with it back to saying “No items today.”

  3. Despite the extortionate pricing: the #calendar application #Fantastical is quite simply the finest software product I've utilised over the past decade. It features continuous, purposeful iterations, robust stability, and flawless integration across Apple ecosystem. It's genuinely one of those indispensable tools that I would miss dreadfully on a Linux desktop.

  5. I have found voice input to be super helpful. I use it entirely for prose: notes, tasks, and reminders. I **don't** use it to make the machine "do things" or for coding (but that's just me ... you do you; and also, I don't use it for coding **yet**).

    I currently use two tools:

    * Spokenly (phone + laptop)
    * Just Press Record (watch + phone)

Each has advantages. Both produce transcriptions which I then "route" to the appropriate place (Things, Obsidian, Fantastical) with Sharing.

Just Press Record also runs on my watch, so I can use it while driving or other situations where the phone is inconvenient, illegal, or unavailable. I can later look at a list and handle them one at a time or in bulk.

Spokenly is significantly more accurate. You pick the underlying model, so you can decide if you want local-only (as I do, so no fees of any kind), size (controls memory used and speed of translation, at the cost of accuracy), and what spoken languages it knows. You can switch at will; and you don't have to have the same model on your phone as on your laptop. You typically handle results in Spokenly immediately (for a while I thought this was the only choice), but they are saved and you can look at them all in History and deal with them from there.

I'm still playing with which models are the best balance of speed and accuracy for my use case. On my phone I'm using "Distil-Whisper Small (English Only)". On my Mac, the same but "Medium".

This doesn't **sound** like a huge win. I certainly didn't expect much when I decided to try it. But it turns out to punch far above its weight.

  6. @robhawkes Apple's reminders, although using @flexibits for the much better user interface. Kinda half-arsedly looking for an alternative back-end that I can still use via Fantastical, but Apple's implementation is, so I understand, a somewhat bastardised version of so not sure if that's even possible.

  7. So I just remembered the zombie #iOS #widget is for @flexibits #Fantastical.

Hey Flexi—all the #widgets available to add are suddently empty. Something may have broken on the beta release I’m on: 4.1.6 (2122)

    Any suggestions?

  8. @dhry While the release notes are great, #Fantastical is not a good example when it comes to subscription pricing 💸💸

  9. New update of iOS #Fantastical. Presented as an example of how to properly accumulate fixes then release a new version, and how to describe the changes. As opposed to putting out a new version with a single change, but describe it simply as “bugfixes”.

  10. #LiquidGlass ...😒 The contrast of notifications is now so low that I can hardly distinguish them from the apps underneath. When I first saw this, I thought my #VSCode had gotten a new #Fantastical integration.

  11. On the verge of fully phasing-out my use of Fantastical… While I still like the app, it’s become increasingly difficult to justify the subscription price.

  12. My task manager, my calendar app and my contacts app literally are the lifeblood of my business organization. The latter two apps, #Fantastical and #Cardhop, got a great #LiquidGlass treatment by the always excellent @flexibits today!

  13. Watched 'The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe' last night. The centaurs looked freakishly ... long.

I tried to make a better centaur.

“Please draw me a centaur type creature from mythology (upper body of a man, lower/rear body of a horse), but instead of putting the man's torso on the front of the horse, please place the man's torso in the middle of the horse, halfway between the front of the horse and the horse's rear end. To be clear, the man is part of the horse, not riding the horse - his torso and all above is merged with the back of the horse. Thanks.”

    . . .

“Thank you. Can you iterate on this by removing the horse's neck and head and moving the man's torso a bit more toward the back of the horse? What will be in place of the horse's neck is a rounded sort of "front" of the horse, kind of like the rear end of the horse in shape, but lacking a tail. Thanks.”

    Perfection achieved.

  14. The fine folks at @flexibits are so good.

    #fantastical on #windows is beautiful 😍

Going subscription likely enabled development of their amazing calendar app on Windows and I am grateful for that 🙏

  15. @gruber @apike This struck a chord: daringfireball.net/linked/2025

Because it's true, and it led me to build scheduleus.online

#fantastical, #superhuman, Google, Microsoft, (me) all see the fussy calendar interface as low-hanging fruit for AI. Form-input, like calendar events, is the new UI playground in the era of AI.

Schedule Us works with your default calendar--no need to switch email or calendar client. Works great as web app saved to home screen. #ai #ui #calendar #bicyclingdownhill

  17. ⚠️ New #LaunchBar Action Alert! Upcoming is showing (surprise, surprise) upcoming calendar events.

🚀 Open event details in @flexibits #Fantastical, #BusyCal, or the default calendar app.

    Bonjour @busymac #BusyCal

  19. How many of us nerds just added #WWDC for June 9 to #Fantastical? 🤓
