🚀 Oh, great! Just what the world needs: another Italian tech firm named after kitchen utensils trying to make a splash on #Nasdaq. 🍝 Because clearly, owning relics like #AOL and #Vimeo wasn’t enough of a throwback. 😂 Now if only Reuters could figure out how to enable JS before aiming for journalistic relevance. 🙄

🎉🥳 Spoiler alert: The Verge's deep dive into why your friend carries candy-shaped tech is as accessible as a quantum physics lecture in Klingon. 🌐🔒 Because nothing screams cutting-edge journalism like an error message and Blocked Access 101! 🚫🔍

🤔 Oh, the shock! A tech company stealthily tweaks its policies without alerting users. In other news, water is wet and tech journalists are still breathlessly reporting the obvious. 🙄💻

🚀🔭 Ah, yes, the Webb telescope is here to save the day by helping us argue about numbers we pretended to understand! Meanwhile, the real cosmic mystery is why anyone thought reader engagement would be improved by a 400 Bad Request error masquerading as journalism. 📉🙄

Ah, the pinnacle of journalistic rigor: being added to a WhatsApp group by mistake. 🙄 Jeffrey Goldberg's "scoop" is basically the adult version of accidentally CC'ing your boss on a meme thread. 😂 But hey, at least he didn't use Comic Sans.

Google wants to buy a thing called #Wiz for $32B because apparently, they've run out of ideas for their own #wizardry. 🤹♂️✨ Meanwhile, Reuters gives us the classic "enable JS" riddle, because nothing says cutting-edge journalism like a splash of technical incompetence. 🖥️🔧

"So at this stage, her legacy is primarily of style, of an accessible, empathetic politician who preferred "kindness" to confrontation and was ultimately less admired at home than she was overseas."
One wonders if this male journalist would have used the same words to describe Ardern's legacy if Ardern had been a man?
Really disappointing piece from the BBC: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-64328433

One wonders whether or not the author of this Vox opinion piece—or his editor and publisher at Vox would have written these same words if the U.S. Supreme Court Justices in question were men. (Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, are aged 68 and 62, respectively.)
"Sotomayor and Kagan need to think about retiring":
https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/23507944/supreme-court-sonia-sotomayor-elena-kagan-ruth-bader-ginsburg-retireReally, really shoddy "journalism" from Vox.

A lot of journalists really appear to have dropped the ball on researching this candidate BEFORE he was elected.
"Incoming congressman’s claims his grandparents fled the Holocaust contradicted by genealogy records": https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/21/politics/george-santos-geneaology/index.html

Dear Journalists: PLEASE stop boosting Trump's social media rants. It's dangerous to feed a fire with oxygen, and THAT is EXACTLY what you're doing when you post screenshots of his narcissistic tantrums.
You're just giving him the air he craves. It's IRRESPONSIBLE.
Also? His ranting is OLD NEWS. He was VOTED OUT. So, your continued "reporting" about him reveals more about YOU than about him.
Stop being lazy. Dig. Write. Inspire. Be real journalists again.

Thank you for sharing these examples of well-written news headlines, @dkiesow. I was curious to know what take responsible journalists and journalism professors would have on Trump's announcement today.
My example of one of the worst written headlines today comes from FiveThirtyEight: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/trump-2024-president/
I would welcome your thoughts on how members of the reading public can persuade journalists and their editors to do better.
