Feeling a bit better pain wise, enough to cook a roast beef spectacular. Listening to some Sunday jazz whilst peeling veg. #vinyl #jazz #JonsCookingMusic
Incidentally, the Fry Haldane sticker top right points to this record being owned at one time by University College Bristol.
Well, the curries are simmering (yeah, that’s right, curries PLURAL) so I guess I should be simmering. And who better to simmer to than Lauryn Hill. Stating the obvious here, but this is such a good album. #vinyl #LaurynHill #NowPlaying #JonsCookingMusic
Well that was depressing. What was I thinking? The Smiths is not what I need right now. Time to up the mood with some Focus. Like wearing a poncho, it’s impossible to be sad listening to Focus. #vinyl #NowPlaying #JonsCookingMusic #Focus
Not sure what neurons have fired to take me from Muddy Waters to The Smiths, but who are we to question biology? Bought on the day of release and still sounding as fresh as a gladiolus in Morrissey’s back pocket. #vinyl #JonsCookingMusic #TheSmiths #NowPlaying
I am cooking what can only be described as an Indian Feast tonight, and I haven’t done a #JonsCookingMusic for a while. So let’s start the early evening off with a bit of Muddy Waters to accompany the chopping of many onions. #vinyl #MuddyWaters #NowPlaying

A great compilation for tonight’s #JonsCookingMusic (fishcakes) from Rocket. An early pre-signing outing for The Lambrettas with Go Steady, and the great Sure Fire by The Act. I guess you could call this a loosely Mod Revival compilation, with Rocket jumping firmly on the bandwagon, but there are punk influences here too. Rocket just threw the net out and advertised for local bands to phone 4992139 (hence the name of the album, of course).
It’s a great snapshot of indie local music in the late 70s.
