  1. Do you need to feel irrationally happy and optimistic, and slightly awed?

    You're welcome.

  3. On the subject of music that can instantly bring me to sobbing...

    Jane Siberry, "You don't need"

    You don't need anybody
    You don't need any comfort
    You don't need any lovers
You can get it from yourself
You don't need anyone to want you
Don't want anyone to need you
And I know you must be there
'Cause people stop to talk to you
    People stop to talk
People stop to talk to you

  4. @tuckerteague I love this connection...

And I LOVED Siberry's "No Borders Here" album. Which I'd completely forgotten about until just now!

Man, takes me RIGHT back to a very particular time and place in my life almost 40 years ago...

(sorry for the youtube link, the album's not available on most streaming services!)

  5. Another Jane Siberry track from CHILD, "Quoi, Ma Voisine, Es-tu Fachée (Neighbour Neighbour)" is, as she describes it in her intro, about two women talking about the arrival of the Messiah and its effect on their shopping.

I also like the point in this song where Rebecca Campbell, the other singer, messes up and slip back into French, but manages to keep going.

  6. @gregolear A wonderful piece. Dig your writing, man & your epic weaving.

    "All the pain and suffering?
Ah, but then you would have missed
The beauty of the light upon the earth,
And the sweetness of the leaving."

Well, shit, here comes a cathartic Sunday morning cry tinged with sadness but mostly delighting in music, poetry as I bear witness (as we all eventually do) to that heart-wrenching twilight arc of my loved one's life well lived.
