Jaleo: This literally translates to "hell-raising" or "racket," but in flamenco, it refers to the vocal expressions of encouragement. It's the shouts of "¡Olé!", "¡Arsa!", or "¡Agua!" that the musicians call out to one another to build energy and push the rhythm forward.

Because jaleo is entirely about community, shared joy, and channeling raw emotion into celebration, it acts like a shot of pure vitality.

¡Barcelona, tenemos un cómic que tirarte! Hoy a las 19:00 en la librería Merricat @Ehtio y yo presentaremos #Jaleo Real y, como podéis ver, estamos preparadísimos:

A beetroot/tuna/ikura “salad” that paired wonderfully with vermouth, as well as an extraordinarily good spanish cheesecake - the highlights of the tasting menu at #Jaleo in Vegas.

Mind you, the rest of the dinner pretty much hit the same “meh” notes for me - the barn-like nature of the restaurants, no matter how cleverly disguised, are still impersonal, with “this is my favorite dish” tending to ring false when endlessly repeated by the hordes of waitstaff.

And yeah, I’m definitely over tasting menus…
