FWIW #ish2023 is much more active on the bird site.

There was an interesting talk yesterday at #ISH2023 by Katie Plaisance on collaborations between philosophers of science and scientists. She presented interesting data based on interviews.

One aspect that wasn't mentioned, and the often surprises me, is that scientists don't want to read. There are many reasons (time pressures; but also that they want a succinct claim). Conversely, we in the humanities like to send people to read a couple of papers or a monograph to get the lay of the land.

Protip: are you nervous before your conference talk? Feeling stressed? It’s perfectly normal. Everyone is. Yes, even that illustrious scholar you’ve previously only seen on book covers. I can tell you stories. Don’t over think it; it’ll be fine. #ish2023

Protip: It is fine to be overwhelmed and tired at conferences. Everyone around you is. If you feel like taking a nap or having some alone time, you should. Don't forget to take care of yourself. #ish2023
