    If you buy a bluetooth gear, look into the manual and check for the existence of a "firmware update" section. If it doesn't, don't buy the e-waste.

    What happens right now to "Jibo robots" can happen to every "smart" device that you have around. Basically none of the "smart devices" that you can buy out there as any meaningful "smart" functionality locally installed, they all get things through vendor's servers.

    So next time when your "smart lock" no longer lets you in, or your "smart kitchen" refuses to do anything, maybe the device's vendor just got bankrupt.
