Those of us who think about politics and history using time spans longer than three months may well be tiring of the current dubbing of the Trump regime's violent intervention in Venezuela as a "success".

We do not yet know what the medium and long term consequences of Trump's actions will be for Venezuela, the region, or for Latin America in general.

We do know that the readiness of both Trump and of most of the US media to chalk this up as an unqualified Trump victory reveals the depth of contempt for Latin America prevailing in the current ruling circles of the USA.
