@bergmeister tbh I kind of like knowing what instances are updates. Sometimes they have extra info on how it went too. I'm ok with it. I guess everyone has different opinions. Maybe they can use the tag #InstanceUpdate so that kind of post can be filtered out. That way everyone wins.

I made the decision today to temporarily silence (NOT de-federate) mastodon.social on our instance (podvibes.co) due to a significant increase in spam in the latest attack they're experiencing. I'll be undoing it as soon as the attack seems to have died down.

#InstanceUpdate: Using rclone to mount cloud storage, mergerfs to mount local and cloud storage together and a couple of maintenance scripts, our instance now has "unlimited" storage. Uploaded content goes into a local cache which is offloaded to Google Drive on a schedule, all completely transparent to the instance.
