5 Stardust: taught that it's not escapism but an actual escape
6. Slackjaw: this was a huge influence on my Koan style of chapters.

@KennyCoble 's list of "six books to get to know me better" has me thinking about the books that have helped shape me into the person I am today.
So, in autobiographical order here are the 5 books that have most influenced me:
1. The Bible. I can't stand this book now, but it DID deeply influence my life from ages 0-22ish.
2. The Misunderstood God by Darin Hufford. This is the book that triggered my exit out of Christianity via its very clear description of what love is as described in 1 Corinthians 13 (and accidentally highlighting for me how exactly opposite of that description is almost every single thing the God of the Bible does and says).
3. Crazy For God by Frank Schaeffer. This memoir about his childhood raised in extreme fundamentalist Christian circles made me feel seen and gave me the courage to take those final steps out of the church.
4. Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall is the first intersectional feminist book I ever read, and as such has greatly impacted how I approach feminism, racism, LGBTQIA2S+, ableism, classism, and all the other related -isms.
5. Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. This book took me by surprise. It has changed my understanding of my place in the world and what it means to live in community with all living things. And taught me how important language is in our understanding of nature, the importance of reciprocity, and living in gratitude.
