Black men and boys are particularly likely to be killed in England and Wales. A Black boy aged 10–17 is 13.4 times as likely to be a victim of homicide as a White boy of the same age.
Being unemployed is associated with a *much* higher risk of being killed. Unemployed people are 16 times more likely to be victims of homicide than the population as a whole in England and Wales. Unemployed men aged 30–49 make up 0.9% of the population but 16% of all homicide victims.
