#indoormapping — Public Fediverse posts

Live and recent posts from across the Fediverse tagged #indoormapping, aggregated by home.social.

  1. TIL that there are 360° LIDAR scanners below $450. With open source programs. I desperately need to figure out why I do need one.

    #osm #indoormapping #pointcloud

  2. Playing a bit with trying to implement indoor mapping support in libshumate (and ultimatly in Maps):

    gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/libshum

So far, one can manually edit a hard-coded value (in shumate/shumate-vector-renderer.c) and run the libshumate demo app, selecting the "OSM Liberty" map source alternative.

    So, don't expect anything mature soon… 😄

  3. The #MunichAirport would benefit from a round of #IndoorMapping.

Although #Vespucci does have access to #Overpass it would be nice if it also had the Overpass wizard like in #JOSM. This would ease indoor mapping.

For navigation this data overload of the airport is horrible. It is hard to tell on which level each amenity is located. It would be nice if navigation apps have the option to hide specific levels and not rely on editors.

  8. @rriemann @Profpatsch @osm_be @c3nav

During #37c3 I had a quick look at the data in c3nav, we wanted to print it on the #osm assembly. unfortunately these are "just" cartesian coordinates and I wasn't able to transform them into geo coordinates.

Would be nice to have #IndoorMapping for public buildings. @VolkerKrause posted some nice prototype work what could be done when indoor data is available...
