My new EP - Comic Capers is out now! For this EP I set out to capture the spirit of my youth with the vibe I think my 16 year old self would've appreciated had the tools and the knowledge been avaiable to me back then.
There's 4 tracks, each a tribute to something from my youth, be that to Public Enemy, Run DMC, Scooby Doo or the original Eastenders cast, every track has an ignorant stupidity about it that I really like.
Expect breakbeats, electro, and dubwise funny noises.

I’ve seen him once before after my sister told me how amazing his music is. There was an opening quarter before his performance, Medusa, and their songs were beautiful as well.
One that stood out to me – and probably everyone there – is a song called ‘Air for Petronella’. Before playing this beautiful piece, they told us the meaning behind the song. It’s about an innocent girl who was tried as a witch in Ireland. She was completely innocent of the accusation and was the first person in Ireland to be burned at the stake for witchcraft in Ireland. She was accused due to being a follower of Dame Alice Kyteler who was charged for witchcraft – all of her associates were deemed guilty as well, including young Petronella. Kyteler fled for her life, leaving Petronella to be flogged and burned at the stake for the crime of “heresy”.
Saskia Tomkins composed this melancholically beautiful piece after reading about this true story. She couldn’t sleep one night, upset about the injustice toward an innocent girl, and wrote this song for the quartet.

Had a blast at last night's gig... Music and visuals worked well and I loved hearing my work on a system with proper sub bass. It translated really well. However, the big thing, and this is where it becomes interesting as an indie web enthusiast... There was hardly anyone there.
The only people who came were friends I texted and a feel bad for the guy putting on the night (who is also a friend). The feedback was great re the music/visuals but I REALLY need to sort my shit out letting people know about what I'm doing. One friend, who's pretty good at marketing, has been texting me all morning lol.
I haven't had any mainstream social media since 2019 and I don't want to go back to it... ever. The only real power any of us have against these digital vampires is to remove ourselves from their platforms but clearly, they dominate on a local level.
However, it's pretty tragic if you're trying to get people to a music event in a small town. I appreciate the shares, I love the indie web and my friends here, however it's hard for people from say the EU or wherever to make a gig. The bus service between here and Berlin is pretty poor lol.
I need to find a way to promote myself locally. I get anyway with being a recluse because I'm usually doing sound for people with management etc. who handle the promo and I've never really promoted myself.
There's defo things like getting an email list and doing more than just texting my friends, back in the day we'd go out fly posting and that was part of the fun but are there any other things people who live there digital lives on the more obscure areas of the internet AND gig to audiences still? Seems a weird thing to ask given I've been working in music so long but I'm living in my own little bubble most the time.
On the one hand, I could get an Instantgran account and play that game but it would feel like a defeat of all the work I've done to self host stuff and contribute in my tiny way to making the internet cool again.
I want to bring people to the indie web, not create revenue for Zuckerberg, he's a cunt and fuck that guy.
Indie musicians here, are you still keeping mainstream apps or are you doing something cooler to promo your work?

You need to have your own website, under your own domain name. If the entire online existence of your label consists of some releases on BrandCramp, then your label is a wholly owned subsidiary of BrandCramp, where you do all the work, unpaid by them, and they get all the web traffic. This is a *bad deal*.

My new EP - Comic Capers comes out on the 27th April, a jolly, ignorant, journey of fun and bass which, as is customary round these parts, processes funny noises with strings and things in my shed, somewhere in North Korea.
The lead track, Nauti Boi, is a Nautilus/Darkest Light sampling breakbeat track, now on rotation at The Indie Beat TV, leading on to some stupidity about the original Eastenders cast, Scooby Doo and my home town.
Pre orders are up on Bandcamp and Mirlo, and I'll also be releasing via RSS/Podcasting 2.0 from my home server. That link will drop on release day.
This won't be on Spotify or any service taking the piss out of music makers, Daniel Elk isn't a real elk.

Ok, I have an old track downloaded at some point in 2007, I'm not sure from where but it was probably (the original) mp3.com. #MusicBrainz came up with nothing, so this is obscure stuff. It's an #industrialmetal track from the #00s and I'd like to know the name of the artist. Maybe they're still making music. I hope so. If you know who this is, let me know.
I have more tracks with just names that I'd like to identify, but I won't spam with them. I'll post another soon though.
