Gold rush in India! Despite PM Modi’s call for austerity, a sharp hike in import duty (now 15%) has sent gold prices soaring by ₹10,200 per sovereign in Kerala. Panic buying is in full swing as families prep for wedding season. Will this lead to a supply crunch? https://english.mathrubhumi.com/news/india/gold-prices-soar-panic-buying-and-profit-taking-grips-jewellery-markets-nk83l2n1?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=mastodon #GoldPriceHike #KeralaGold #JewelleryMarket #ImportDuty

#boycottchina To do a scientific test about the costs and benefits, would it make sense for the #EU to levy 100% tax / #importduty on all products made in dictatorships, such as North Korea and #PRC, if Trump does not do it? That would generate data. Perhaps then we can see if we still know how to make stuff (electronics, solar panels)? If Trump does it, should we give the US the same free trade rules as some of these dictatorships get now, or is the US already in a better EU-US trade regime?
