Beef cattle welfare:140 cattle, including 100 cows and 40 calves died of thirst

"AACo spared investigation into cattle thirst deaths after reassuring regulators. Queensland's government ruled out investigating luxury beef giant AACo over mass deaths of its cattle from thirst, after receiving reassurances from the company that problems had been fixed."

"The lack of investigation into deaths at the $700 million beef business has been slammed as "completely unacceptable" by a legal expert who argued industry had captured government regulators...The circumstances of this case are highly representative of a long-established pattern of passivity and industry capture [for the department] when dealing with the welfare of commercial farm animals."
