  1. New blog post with a fascinating Revolutionary War detail: During British occupation, the Cole family ferry at the foot of Dock Street was the only authorized transport on and off Staten Island. Also sharing details about my book signing this Sunday at the Mount Loretto Christmas Fair—stop by from 12-4 PM if you're in the area.

  2. “I mean, he can’t seriously complain”, Layla would sing into my ears. “He was still given a small job in the middle of nowhere, had a roof above his head, and clothes and food. Daddy is kind, if you’re not a little girl.”

  3. "We’re not burning witches in this post, but the books and whole work of a medieval monk, who seemingly miscalculated his impact on the world. Have you ever heard of Nicholas de Artrecourt? Sounds sympathetic, right? Like an early modern thinker, a hero that was antagonized by the church enslaving the people, right? Let’s see how that fits!"

  5. Why do we want to know about the past?

Has preserving information a worth on its own,or is it simply a tool to question our present state?

What do we write history for? Whose history are we writing?

I found myself lost in a weird argumentation in class today, so maybe it's time for a historiography blog post?!

  6. My mother always warned me of doing my laundry between Christmas and New Year's. But did she know that we missed out on the chance to trap a god, a ghost or even a demon in our garden?

  8. Finally, it's time for a bit of witching research!

Ancient cities have always fascinated me. In Europe, medieval times started to build them late in comparison, and dirty, little growth holds so many stories!

  10. This was not the most informative, haunted, heartbreaking history post I have written, but it was just supposed to keep up the routine and keep my brain working in the right way to write these things more often! So, I'm glad I wrote it, and I think we will revisit this ghost a few more times!

  11. This castle window feels like an invitation to sing much too loud and by any chance get rescued by the love of your love before being executed for witchcraft, you know what I mean?

  12. I find it important to check on these images we are so used to. Where to they come from? What do they mean?

In this case, one reasons is oddly funny, while the other one is disturbing.

  13. This large building has dominated the first block of South Broadway in New Philadelphia, Ohio since its construction and, when it was built, was considered state-of-the-art. I thought I would explore its construction and how it became the focal point of an early 20th century Ohio Supreme Court case.
