I got another belated #BirthdayGift ☺️
This quirky #tshirt is from Marge. She's a previously unhoused Indigenous woman who I'd been helping out for over 2 years. I let her live in our backyard for a month while she was getting herself ready to go back to school & was on waitlist for social housing apartment. I helped her obtain her first job after she finished her schooling. I'm so happy she's doing so well in her new life.

Marge has worked very hard to lift herself back up, out of poverty, away from past abusive living environment & she gives back a lot to the same unhoused community that she was a part of for quite some time. Marge ended up houseless due to domestic abuse & not getting timely help/supports when she needed both the most. Her ex abusive partner was a high paid business executive. Marge turned to alcoholism & then hard drugs to numb herself from almost daily abuse that she was forced to hide from the world.

People, like Marge, are still out in the cold & houseless. Most are desperate & didn't become addicts by choice. I hope everyone understands that every houseless person has a personal story. We should not blame for game. We need to try to fight for better access to timely help for domestic abuse issues. They often lead many women & children to houseless situations.
