New human cases: From 8 June to 19 July 2024, the detection of influenza A(#H5) virus in four humans, #H5N1 in 3 humans, #H5N6 in 1 human, and #H9N2 in 1 human were reported officially. Additionally, the detection of H1N2 variant #H1N2v virus in 2 humans was reported.

Frequencies of markers of resistance to antivirals were low among >20,000 avian influenza A viruses studied. #H5Nx, #H7Nx, & #H9N2 viruses were susceptible to sub-nanomolar concentrations of antivirals. NA-I222M, but not NA-S246N or NA-I222V, in H5N1 confers reduced inhibition by #oseltamivir.

From 4 May to 7 June '24, 4 human cases of infection with influenza #H5N1 viruses, 1 case of #H5N2 virus, 2 cases of #H5N6 viruses, & 3 cases of #H9N2 viruses were reported officially.

...results show that the detected #strain had undergone intrasubtype #reassortment. Furthermore, it contains #changes in the viral #proteins that make it more likely to be #virulent, raising a question about the tendency of AIV H9N2 to become highly pathogenic in the future for both poultry and #humans.
