I'm back creating custom grids for #GT7.
Aiming to recreate the David Vs Goliath touring car battles of the 60s with Minis and big American tanks like the Wicked Fab 51 Custom Coupe.

I'm glad that they have allowed tuning for this car. e
Even in its base form, it's a competent 600pp class car, and with some mild fettling, such a as replacing the 4+1 overdrive gearbox with a racing 5-speed, and better induction, it.can take on the 700pp class around Road Atlanta!

Cannot believe how responsive Gran Turismo 7 feels to play with a DualSense controller connected via USB cable and 120 Hz mode enabled with VRR. At least for my reflexes and TV, it allows for much tighter maneuvering. #PlayStation5 #GranTurismo7 #PS5 #GT7

Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation VR2 is just mind blowing. I think that's the first racing game that I can drive without struggling. The 1st person view in VR makes it a lot easier. And the best part: no motion sickness at all.

For some reason, there was a 0€ game in the the PS Store a couple of days ago - CarX Street, an open world arcade racer. I'm a sucker for racing games, so I gave it a try.

After about 4h, I'm positively surprised: the game's right down the #NFSU alley, and captures that nostalgic feel really well. It's full of JDM classics, tons of tuning options, and, most importantly, stupidly fun racing (so far).

It's far from a sim (like #gt7 for example), the open world is mostly just a nice backdrop (but all open world racing games I ever played were like that), and the cars aren't licensed - none of that makes it any less fun to race for money, and to build up your basic street car into a turbocharged destroyer of "yolo tires" 😄

Also, no cops/chases - they've happily invited everyone to participate in no-longer-illegal street racing in their city, for some bizarre reason 🤣

3 new vehicles coming to #GT7 next week. Can you tell what they are?

I think the middle one is the small #Mazda CUV which is fine because #zoomzoom and #SoulRedCrystal.

Someone said the left car is a #Renault #Kangoo. Which initially thought was bonkers until I remembered just how popular they are in Japan.

Putting the "Challenge" into the Weekly Challenges this week, the Viper race was a close one, I had to throw all the racing parts at the '02 GTS (and made a sweet graffiti-themed/#RedFang livery for it!) and I detuned the SF19 so much that drafting was essential as it lacked the power on the straights, so for once it wasn't a cake walk.

On the other hand, the Valkyrie seems to trivialise any race it qualifies for.

Back home after a week away for work, and recovering with a bit of Gran Turismo. Tackling the Historics for a change, the E-Type makes a great 600pp, even if it's a bit spiky on the limit.

This week's #GT7 Challenges gave me a change run a few retro classics.
The #Lancer is underpowered, but very light, so I added Nitrous for the straights at Monza.
The #Sierra is just about quick enough at Bathurst, and great over the Mountain section.
The #M3 has an engine swap (from the #Suzuki VGT)
And the #Abarth has been bored out to 624cc, hence the plate!

The Clubman 700 races are a bit of an Achilles's heel for me, since I try to keep nothing the performance guidelines. And I'm not a fan of most American muscle, the #Camaro has a mind of its own under braking. So I went back with the #Cossie (which identifies as American) and won fairly easily. The #Ferrari race has a 700pp suggested cap, and a chicane you can cut.

The #Fiat/ #Abarth 595 popped up in the #gt7 used car dealership this evening, so I bought one (I'd sold the old one as the K20 swap ruined it) but when I took to the #eiger course for a hill climb run, it kept stalling and losing power. It did this stock with 30 hp, and modified with 45 and 55. I added ballast, raised the suspension (fun fact; the car rolls hilariously at max ride height) and eventually settled on a tune that's manageable and about as quick as other 400pp cars. #GranTurismo7

#gt7 patch 1.52 dropped. 2 new cars, and a Hiace van. Also new swaps, some physics tweaks and a fresh coat of paint for part of the Eiger course.

Back at my old #GT7 BS, building smol pretend race cars. This week it's been the surprisingly chuckable #Daihatsu #Copen which is great around #Tsukuba and other technical courses, but it's no powerhouse.

Started laying down a livery for it as well, using a proper SVG editor (#Inkscape) so I can start getting to grips with that for a bit.

Three races completed in this week's #GT7 challenges. The #Jimny race at Horse Thief Mile feels like a kid's ride, all hairpins and short straights. The Japanese Clubman race is a showcase for the new Sony #Afeela, which is odd because I found the Tesla #Model3 easier to race earlier this week. Still, it was a good chance to dust off the #Silvia. The #Civic race is a 4 lap sprint around Suzuka, once you've nailed Spoon Curve and 130R, it's an easy win. #GranTurismo7
