Ooooh, Empire's Big Apple Roll has posted their 2026 event graphic to their website.
Remember, the BAR #GroupSkate weekend is Jul 30-Aug 2 this year, or Jul 27-Aug 2 if you include the special edition weekly group skates in advance.

We've added three more out-of-town #GroupSkate weekends to the Empire website calendar: Philadelphia, Skate DC, and LA Big Avocado Roll.
Already done are the two Miami events. Houston is next week, then Atlanta kicks off the summer season, followed by DC Skate of the Union, Philly, Portland, Seattle, NYC BAR, Skate DC, and LA.
Still waiting for word on Boston, Chicago, Toronto and San Antonio's dates, but none of those will be earlier than mid August.

It's March 6, which means the start of April is less than 4 weeks away. That means official start of the #NYC Official Wednesday Night Skate #InlineSkating #GroupSkate and also inline #speedskating training on the #Brooklyn #ProspectPark loop. We can't wait.

The Empire Skate Club of New York has been #InlineSkating #NYC since 1997.
Our biggest, most organized activity every year is the Big Apple Roll, 4-5 days of group skating the first weekend of August, including the massive BAR Friday Night Skate
We also sponsor Tuesday Night Skate, NYC's oldest weekly #GroupSkate; sponsor an inline #speedskating team; and do weekend group skates.

Looks like its 2 (TWO!) #NYC #GroupSkate's to the Dyker Heights neighborhood Christmas lights fantasia this week!
Empire's own Tuesday Night Skate rolls there TONIGHT, departs Manhattan Grand Army (Fifth@60th) at 8 p.m.
Then Wednesday is the aforementioned Winter Wednesday Night Skate, departing from Triona's on Third (at 17th) at 7 p.m. (An HOUR EARLY!)
It's a long roll there and back, but there's an R train station near-by in Bay Ridge for peeps who want to get home faster.

Tonight's Empire Holiday Spirit #GroupSkate has been postponed due to the rain. It will instead take place tomorrow, 12/11, starting from Triona's on Third Ave at 8 p.m.
Also in the holiday spirit, there is a non-Empire group skate Friday evening, meeting up 6:30 at the Columbus Circle entrance to Central Park. Theme is locations from the Home Alone 2 movie.

We have a themed Empire weekend #GroupSkate happening this Sunday, 11/23. It's the first of a "subway series", where the group will meet up at the first station of an #NYC subway line and follow its route to the last. And since it's the first such skate, that means it will be the 1 train!
Meet-up is by the Van Cortlandt station in the Bx at 11 a.m.
If the group reaches the Whitehall Station in lower Manhattan in good time, they may also try rolling the route of the W train.

Beautiful weekend to be #InlineSkating and seeing the sights in #NYC, although a bit windy Sunday afternoon. Empire's long-distance #GroupSkate Saturday apparently went well, and we enjoyed visiting a couple favorite spots in Brooklyn on Sunday.
Now everyone, cross your fingers and pray for improvement in the weather forecast for next Saturday morning. It's NYC 100k & Inline Marathon time in #Brooklyn #ProspectPark.

It's the first of September and the start of meterological autumn, but the main part of the #InlineSkating season in #NYC still has a couple months to roll.
Coming up in a few weeks is the NYC Skate Marathon & 100k in #ProspectPark on Sep 27. Consider attending to cheer on the skaters even if you won't be rolling.
October ends with Empire's annual #GroupSkate to the Tarrytown Halloween festivities, as well as the grand finale of the official NYC Wednesday Night Skate.

Big Apple Roll is over, and by all accounts it was a great success. Weather only messed with the Thursday night skate, and was beautiful for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday skates. The crowd attending the Friday Night Skate may well have been the biggest #GroupSkate in #NYC since the MS Super Roll was held so very long ago, and after it was over a large chunk of skaters headed over to Pier 76.

Big big turnout for Empire's Big Apple Roll Friday Night Skate on 8/1, led by the incomparable Sarai. At least 600 participants that we were able to count, and we've read reports of 650 (at least 100 of whom were recording their activity on Strava, of course).
Big representation from Miami wearing matching garb, but we also saw club gear from Boston, DC. Houston, LA, Long Beach, and Portland (OR).

After a big NYC Wednesday Night Skate, the 2025 Big Apple Roll #GroupSkate weekend officially kicked off this morning with a crowd of 100 or more skating from Times Square to Rockaway Beach.
Sadly not much time to enjoy the beach as storms rolled in. Although the rain should be over and one before the planned Thursday evening skate, streets look to be too wet and slick except for the adventurous. We'll see.

Big Apple Roll week is about to start. Weather forecast for events has kept changing, but it's beginning to look like we might lose a couple mid-week events to rain. But it currently looks good for Friday evening and Saturday.

The hardcore did indeed show up for the #NYC Tuesday Night Skate on a sub 20°F night. And apparently all that all 8 or 9 of them wanted to do was doodle.

The #BigAppleRoll Day 3 Mega-Skate is complete. Congratulations to all who made the skate to the Unisphere AND back in today's, dare we say, ugly skating weather!
The official BAR party is on the schedule for early this evening. TIckets available at the door, space permitting.
There will be more activities tomorrow, but they'll be cool-down stuff while many of our new out-of-town friends start heading home.

It's hot out, and it's def not a dry heat, and then we see the weather forecast is still saying high chance of a rainstorm around 6. But we're still hoping to skate #BigAppleRoll tonight. And if not, then maybe there will be dry streets later so that we can roll downtown and hook up with #NYC and visiting skaters at the after party.

It's day 2 of Big Apple Roll 2024, and we are hoping for a VERY full day.
We'll start off with a skate class with Olympian Joey Mantia at 9 a.m. Then at 10:30 a group skate from FiDi to downtown Brooklyn and back.
Mid afternoon is a product expo. Which… you did register for the raffle and schwag? Now's your chance.
And in the evening? Are you praying to the weather gods? Please do.

So we did the Big Apple Roll Thursday night skate from FiDi to Greenpoint and back. Personally, it was our first big group skate since the before times. And it was brutal due to the humidity.
Anyway, when it was over, we saved our Strava route. Then checked back later, and Strava says we were skating with 43 other people.
Which means there were 100 people who skated with us who were not using Strava. The monsters.

We're told the Wednesday Night Skate wasn't as dry as it looked from our vantage point checking the weather map from 6-7 miles north. Oh, well.
Big Apple Roll 2024 continues Thursday evening with a group skate starting at 7 p.m. from the event hotel in the FiDi. Hope to see you there.

After the pre-BAR group skates, the long Tuesday Night Skate to Queens and Brooklyn and the short Wednesday Night Skate around (dry) lower Manhattan, official BAR events begin today.
There are two group skates Thursday, starting 10 am and 7 pm, both from the official event hotel down in FiDi.

Tonight's the night for the big pre-BAR Wednesday Night Skate. Not just the usual large WNS crowd, but visitors from out of town to supplement the horde.
Could be some rain and late afternoon thunderstorms, so let's hope the streets are dry at Union Square come 8 in the p.m.
