  1. What a difference a week makes. We’ve gone from eight to just three chicks. A sparrow attacked two, others probably starved… But that big chick is looking healthy!

  2. I didn’t want to mention it before - I thought it was just a video encoding glitch - but it looks like Bert has an extra eye?!

  3. Bert’s only been delivering food a few times a day - I thought it would have been pretty constant - so sometimes Enid has to leave her eggs for a few minutes

  4. Over the last few days, Enid has been going out and about during the day but roosting in the box at night. Now she’s sitting on her eggs all day and Bert is bringing her food!

  5. Enid's nest is coming along nicely! #BertAndEnid #GreenFeathers #NestBoxCam #UKBirds #BlueTit #Birds

  6. Day 2: thanks to some info from @agvbergin and by reading birdfact.com/articles/blue-tit, it turns out it was Enid building the nest while Bert has “become territorial to protect the female and prevent her from mating with anyone else.”
Well done Enid, you deserve a nice cup of tea and a sit down for today’s work.

  7. The people have spoken! Yesterday we were visited by some blue tits who we are going to call #BertAndEnid. Looks like they’re starting to build a nest already (if “3 blades of grass” counts as a start)

Any twitchers know what Bert is doing to the floor here?

  8. If you were wondering how we’re getting these #SteveTheSparrow shots, we’re using a #GreenFeathers WiFi camera in a custom built box so that we could comfortably fit the entrance and base of the box in view. Green Feathers sell boxes a bit like this too but we wanted to make our own.
