1894 Silsby Fourth-Size Steam Pumper: Victorian Firefighting Classic.
A rare and impressive example of late-19th-century firefighting technology.
Built by the American Fire Engine Company (later part of American LaFrance), this horse-drawn apparatus was powered by a steam boiler driving a rotary pump capable of delivering around 500 gallons of water per minute.
Originally delivered to the Philadelphia Fire Department.

Mount Etna in Sicily is one of Europe’s most active volcanoes, but local artisans have found an incredible way to turn its volcanic material into art.
Molten volcanic rock can be collected from lava flows, shaped, molded, and cooled into unique objects. Jewelry, decorative pieces, tables, and other handcrafted items can all be made using material connected to the volcano.
And because every lava flow forms differently, no two pieces are exactly alike.

A Roman brick from Caesarea in modern-day Algeria holds something incredible. A worker left a handprint in the wet clay nearly 2,000 years ago. Even the worker’s fingerprints can still be seen.
The brick is now kept at the Cherchell Archaeological Museum. It gives us a rare connection to an ordinary person who lived during Roman times.
